dc.type | Article | en_US |
dc.description | In 1948, the state of North Dakota was the largest producer of barley in the U.S. In response, it was recommended that a barley quality improvement program to insure both the highest quality barley and to produce the highest financial returns be established. The importance of acquiring those pieces of equipment in ascertaining those qualities deemed most desirable for quality was cited. In 1948, the Experiment Station made such investment with the purchase of said instruments for usage in the Department of Cereal Technology. The process of testing barley to determine it's quality is the main body of this article. The program for improving barley quality was very similar to that
followed in wheat improvement work. | |
