dc.description | The topic was which varieties of wheat to grow. The use of varieties resistant to stem rust and other important plant diseases insures a more dependable yield. Where the varieties can influence better yields as well. While much progress has been made in the development, introduction and use of varieties that resist rust, thus lessening the hazards of production, not all danger from disease has been removed. No one of the varieties we now have is superior in all respects. Every grower must balance the advantages against the disadvantages and choose the variety which they believe will best meet the problems and crop hazards which are most common to their area. This article gives a table with a summary of comparisons for the leading hard red spring wheat varieties since 1946 in North Dakota. | |
