dc.description | The article concerns the poisoning of livestock by salt (sodium chloride). An experiment where both lambs and swine were given brine is reviewed. Swine that drink brine used in curing meats, usually die from the nitrates in the solution. Salt poisoning appeared to be the result of intense salt hunger along with inadequate water supplies. | |
