dc.descriptionThe author discusses corn hybrids and variety performance in North Dakota. The state harvested 1,318,000 acres of corn in 1950 and 1,220,000 acres in 1949. More than 53 % of the 1950 acreage were planted with hybrid seed. Various aspects of these hybrids were discussed such as corn hybrids specific in adaptability, early maturing importance, usage for grain and fodder, seed size not an index to crop yield, hybrid performance in different zones, those varieties suited to different zones and a comparative maturity and description of corn varieties and hybrids.
