dc.description | Barley is good for fattening cattle. However, it is lacking in certain nutrients found in other grains. A study that added fat to barley was reviewed. It was not conclusive if this helped or not. The addition of two vitamins, E and Choline, and two minerals, zinc and sulfur, were evaluated. These did not improve the performance. The addition of alfalfa and Vitamin A had no benefit. The doubling of calcium, phosphorus, salt and trace minerals was thought to increase efficiency, which it did not. Two experiments are reviewed in this article. | |
