dc.description.abstract | Tay Phuong Monastery was built in 2013 with a small fundraiser from the followers. The temple is located on a 35-acre lot, with a beautiful, natural, and pure environment. This place is for people to come to worship and practice Buddhism. Also, the temple is the place for monks and nuns to stay and spread the dharma. The site had a couple of religious buildings to support worship. Besides, they want to create a facility for people to come and learn more about Buddhism. Because of that, the venerable ask the landscape designer to create a historical and religious garden to show the visitor how the Buddhist history work and what religion believe.
Traditional to modern garden had change in its purpose and meaning historically, socially, and physically. A change from looking inwared, into ourselves, to an outward view. Traditional Zen garden tends toward simplisty of the design, but a complexity of meaning; while the reverse is said for the modern approach. I seek to utilize components from modern Zen gardens like technology but will tie in the origanal roots of the Zen garden. For those experiencing and using the space it will aid them in their journey toward enlightenment, to look inward of themselves, in their meditations. | en_US |
