The objectives of the study covered in this article were to compare the best prolific hybrid and non-prolific hybrids available at that time and to determine if prolificy should be further explored. The authors cited how general recommendations could not be formulated for plant populations or the performance of prolific versus non-prolific classes of corn in central North Dakota based solely on 2 hybrids. HIghest yields were achieved from non-prolific hybrids but at a higher, riskier, plant populations than was recommended.
