Newspaper clipping with photo: “Irvin Eugene Buck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Buck, Jr. of Streeter, was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army of the United States, April 14 at Fort Benning, Georgia, upon the completion of the Officer Candidate Course at the Infantry School at Fort Benning. He was inducted in the Army August 7, 1942, and served with the medical department before going to Office Candidate School three months ago. He held the rank of corporal before being commissioned. Lieutenant Buck is a graduate of Streeter High School and the University of North Dakota.
