Certified seed of Culbert flax was released under contract to growers for initial increase March 26, 1975. This high yielding variety, developed cooperatively by the USDA Agricultural Research Service and the Experiment Stations of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, is immune to all North American races of rust. It is moderately resistant to flax wilt and has fair tolerance to pasmo and lodging. Culbert, a medium height, early maturing variety, is expected to partially replace rust susceptible varieties now grown in the North Central region.
