dc.descriptionThe author addresses incentives to livestock agriculture research. Animal derived products are a major source of many essential nutrients to the human diet. Research in animal agriculture has been directed to achieve optimum biological efficiency in the production of these. Certain animal products must be altered to improve consumer acceptability in terms of current dietary standards. Initiatives set forth by the Experiment Station Committee on Organization and Policy were discussed in this article for a five year period. Future profitability of animal agriculture would depend upon the ability of producers to maintain competitiveness. New technology and knowledge would aid in such.
