Abstract

Description

The US exportation of two types of wheat, Durum and semolina, are pondered under various trade agreements. Comparisons of North Dakota and other states in the US that export these two types of wheat are compared with Canada, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and Mexico. Importers of such are Italy, Algeria, Tunisia, Germany, Poland, Venezuela Japan, S. Korea, the former Soviet Union and other European countries. Only trade policies regarding the exportation of such wheat is addressed in this study. A blow by blow 'what if' breakdown of many aspects of the logistics, milling, production, so forth are reviewed with North Dakota being believed to be in a very favourable position on the exportation of durum predominantly due to it's milling capacity.
