Description
In 1991, the Department of Horticulture and Forestry announced the introduction of a new dwarf, golden spirea for usage in landscapes in the upper mid-west. This variety is Spirea Japonica 'Mettyann' Dakota Goldcharm. These are dervived from Spirea Japonica 'Little Princess'. Goldcharm were first grown in greenhouse and transplanted to field in 1987. Many varieties of Spirea Japonica exist. The Dakota Goldcharm appeared to be hardy and had only minimal dieback in winters. This new variety was to be under propagation agreement to nurseries.
