In 2020 India is expected to be a net importer of ethanol for the 6th year in a row since 2012 (Aradhey, Amit, 2019). The drivers of net importation are government policy, strong economic growth, and weak domestic ethanol industry (Aradhey, Amit, 2019). Hence, the purpose of this thesis is three-fold. Firstly, investigating drivers of ethanol importation, providing an outlook for market viability. Second, to produce original research findings that meaningfully contribute to an understanding of India's ethanol market. Lastly, this research will be helpful to American firms seeking new export opportunities for their ethanol products.en_US
