The stress placed on many North Dakota farms during this timeframe is discussed. Their difficulty in farming transferred to their home lives in emotional stress and emotional upheavals. This article addresses how important personal, structural and financial characteristics are in predicting farm family stress within the context of the farm financial crises in North Dakota at this time.
