dc.descriptionThe article is a presentation of Ward, a variety of durum wheat, which was developed and jointly released October 24, 1972, by the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and the Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. Ward is higher yielding, has stronger straw greater resistance to leaf rust, and a lower incidence of leaf spotting diseases than the durum varieties Rolette, Leeds, Wells and Hercules grown in North Dakota. It's breeding history, performance trials, resistance to stem and leaf rust, milling and spaghetti quality; botanical description and seed production are given.
