Abstract
Description
A study was conducted to determine the most productive irrigated alfalfa harvest system for northern North Dakota and to determine the influence of harvest system on alfalfa stand longevity. Some background information on alfalfa is given. It was concluded that the 3 cut management system yielded less than did the 2 cut system average over alfalfa cutting heights. But, the 3 cut system produced a higher quality forage. The 3 cut system was the most consistent whereas the 2 cut system might work best in a reduced management system.
