Abstract

Description

Discussion of cultivars of hard red wheat grown under conventional-till and no till cropping systems at four locations in North Dakota over five seasons, 1984/85 through 1988/89 are compared. The overall average yields for conventional-till wheat and no-till wheat 36.2 and 37.3 bushels per acre. A greater advantage for no-till production was indicated for those environments in which wheat displayed differential winter survival in 12 of 20 environments due to greater stands and less winter injury.
