Abstract

Description

A two year study was conducted in North Dakota to ascertain what effect, if any, de-worming of beef cows had on the weaning weights of their calves. A description of that study is given as part of a preface to this article. All cattle, unless raised in total confinement, fall victim to internal parasites in some period of their lives, including those in North Dakota. Next, a two year study is discussed. Its' objective was to determine what effect deworming of beef cows had on their respective pregnancy rates and the in the weaning weight s of their calves. This study lasted from May 1985 to November 1986. The methods are discussed. In this study, the pregnancy rates of the beef cows were not significantly changed following de-worming.
