This article discusses a study which compared the breakdown prices and returns of the cow/ calf enterprise under drylot, irrigated pasture and range management conditions. Comparisons are made for drylot and irrigated pasture management at two North Dakota locations based on crop production data available at Carrington and Oakes. Breakeven prices and returns are calculated based on selling calves at weaning. Range production is also evaluated at two levels of production.
