Geomorphology Study of the Fargo, ND & Moorhead, MN Flood Risk Management Project

Abstract

A feasibility study designed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul Di strict, to investigate flood issues in the Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN metropolitan area began in September 2008. The objectives of the study are to manage flood risk and damages for the area; restore or improve degraded riverine and riparian habitat in and along the Red River of the North, Wild Rice River (North Dakota), Sheyenne River (North Dakota), and Buffalo River (Minnesota); provide additional wetland habitat in conjunction with other flood risk management features; and provide recreational opportunities in conjunction with other flood risk management features.
