By 1957, experiments determine the effects of different types of tillage on crop yields, especially the yield of wheat, have been carried on over a long period of years in North Dakota. They show that types of tillage
used to prepare land for crops
materially affect the resulting crop yields. When considering tillage one need differentiate between that used for preparation of a seedbed on stubble land and that used for performing summer fallow and final seedbed preparation on such fallow. Spring versus Fall plowing, plowing versus subsurface cultivation, plowing versus disking corn stubble, Fall tillage preceding Spring plowing, Summer fallow tillage and wheat on fallow versus Continuous
