The Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL): Opportunities to Engage and Inspire

Abstract

The Sanford Center for Science Education (SCSE) is planned to be the education and outreach arm for the Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL). This science education center will provide innovative programs, expand educational opportunities for a wide array of students, and generally enhance the efforts of Homestake DUSEL. Key to the vision is the weaving together of on-site and distance components. The underground science laboratory will be available to all through computer-simulated environments and access to authentic scientific data.
