On November 1, 1974, the epartments of Horticulture and plant Pathology of the North Dakota Agriculture Experiment Station announced the release of a new potato variety named Bison. Since 1957, Bison is the ninth potato variety released by NDSU. Ofthe NDSU vafrieties, Norchip ranks fifth.
