Tillage appeared to cause a temporary immobilization of N03-N as newly incorporated organic matter was being mineralized. Nitrate leaching was not found to be a serious problem during this study except on very sandy soils which received excessive amounts of rainfall.North Dakota State UniversitySoil analysisNitrate-Nitrogen Accumulation and Movement In Some North Dakota Soils Under Dryland ConditionsArticle
