Book "Derby Girl" added to collection

The NDSU Press book Derby Girl: A Memoir, by Sammi Jones, has been added to the Institute for Regional Studies Archives book collection.  Jones started in the Fargo Moorhead roller derby in 2010.  The following comes from the book cover:

“Spreading the Good News of roller derby was Sammi Jones’s main goal in writing Derby Girl.  She has competed in all kinds of sports – golf, tennis, basketball, and more – but she never came across any sport quite like roller derby.  Jones describes women’s derby as the most difficult sport she’s ever played, but also the most rewarding.”

“Roller derby is an odd place to strike a balance in life, but Sammi straps on her skates, adjusts her spandex, tests her center of gravity, and scores points with her no-punches-pulled memoir.”
