The book Real Indians: Portraits of Contemporary Native Americans and America’s Tribal Colleges has been added to the Institute for Regional Studies Archives book collection. This 108 page book features black and white photographs taken by Andrea Modica, of Native American who have met success in the modern world. Each photograph is accompanied by a textual profile. The sketches feature Native Americans who have excelled in the careers of higher education, politics, teaching, security, ballet, authors, historians, and other endeavors. North Dakotan’s featured in the book are Dennis Bercier of Belcourt, Dr. David M. Gipp of Bismarck, Dr. Gerald “Carty” Monette of Belcourt, and Dr. Ron McNeil of Fort Yates.
