Libraries Undergraduate Research Award 2025 Recipient Shler Mohammed

Congratulations to the 2025 NDSU Libraries Undergraduate Research Award Recipient, Shler Mohammed!

NDSU Libraries is proud to announce Shler Mohammed as the 2025 recipient of the Libraries Undergraduate Research Award (LURA)! This annual award honors exceptional undergraduate research that demonstrates excellence in the use of library resources. Shler’s project focused on designing an office space for the headquarters of the Wildlife Conservation Society, showcasing both creativity and thoughtful research.

Shler is currently a second-year Interior Design student at NDSU, with plans to graduate in May 2027. She will also be completing a minor in Psychology at the end of this semester. A graduate of Moorhead High School and a transfer student from M State, Shler is actively involved on campus as the Fundraiser Co-Chair for the ASID Executive Board and a student member of NDID.

In addition to her academic and leadership roles, Shler is passionate about personal growth and wellness. “I work hard every day to better myself and build my future,” she shares. “I always put my mental and spiritual well-being first.” She enjoys spending time with family and friends and brings a strong sense of purpose to all she does.

After graduation, Shler hopes to gain experience in both residential and commercial interior design before deciding which path to pursue long-term. She also dreams of traveling the world and working internationally as an interior designer.

Shler encourages fellow students to take full advantage of the library’s offerings. “Start learning how to navigate the different databases and how to refine your searches,” she advises. “If you can’t figure it out, any professor or library staff can help you. The databases are very easy to navigate, and there are endless resources to support your study. The library’s resources aren’t limited to just digital ones—there are a multitude of texts you can find on nearly any subject!” She adds, “I’m a detail-oriented person, and I’ve never failed to find sources that support my research through the library’s resources.”

Please join us in celebrating Shler Mohammed on this well-earned recognition. We’re excited to follow her journey and future success!
