Title: Stored Grain Pests
Author: Post, R. L.
Description: This paper presents the details of a survey of thirty grain elevators and farmer storage bins in North Dakota. Samples of grain were taken from the top and at depths of approximately two feet from bins which had been undisturbed for some time. The inspection revealed the presence of grain mites and psocids. Farmers were encouraged to examine their storage bins if these had been undisturbed for some time. The mild weather aided in insect infestations. The construction of bins in country elevators and farm storage were made of wood making it difficult to fumigate them. The ingredients of fumigants and recommendations on using fumigants was given.
