Database Description
ECO - Electronic Collections Online (OCLC)

An OCLC collection of scholarly journals. Includes all of the original content and images of articles and bibliographic information for all journals. Lets you view abstracts and full-text articles from journals to which NDSU subscribes.

EconLit (ProQuest)

Provides bibliographic coverage of a wide range of economics-related literature. Covers both economic theory and application.

Education Index Retrospective (H.W. Wilson/EBSCO)

This database provides a vast record of important education literature pertaining to societal trends, such as segregation, multiculturalism, feminism, economic developments and more.

Education Source (EBSCO)

Most complete collection of full-text education journals including an international array of English-language periodicals, monographs, yearbooks, and more. Covers education from early childhood to higher education.

Education Week

A rich resource for K-12 education. Includes news, data sets, white papers, original research, videos, and more.

Educator's Reference Complete (Gale Cengage)

This database contains a selection of academic journals, hundreds of full-text reports, and reference sources. Content focuses on educational principles, child development and psychology, and best practices in education.

eHRAF World Cultures

This database contains ethnographic collections covering all aspects of cultural and social life.

Encyclopedia Britannica Academic Edition (Encyclopaedia Britannica)

Contains over 73,000 articles and a multimedia database with thousands of photographs, illustrations, sound files, and hundreds of video clips and more.

Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion (Berg Fashion Library)

Searchable online encyclopedia that explores all aspects of dress and fashion globally, from pre-history to the present day; includes information on the dressed and adorned body across cultures and throughout history.

EndNote Online (Clarivate Analytics)

Web-based bibliographic service for students and researchers that organizes personal reference collections and saves time retyping references for course work and publication. Requires a log-in; available for all NDSU faculty, students and staff.

Entomology Abstracts (ProQuest)

Contains all recent research reports of direct relevance to entomology including insects, arachnids, myriapods, onychophorans and terrestrial isopods.

Environmental Engineering Abstracts 1990-current (ProQuest)

This database is a comprehensive index to world literature on all technological and engineering aspects of air, water and soil quality, environmental safety, sustainability and energy production.

Environmental Science Collection (ProQuest)

The Environmental Sciences Collection combines specialist topic resources from disciplines such as engineering, biotechnology, bacteriology, atmospheric science, ecology and biology and features a diverse range of full-text sources including scientific journals, trade journals, new sources, conference proceedings, reports, monographs, books and government publications.

ERIC: Education Resource Information Center (EBSCO)

An online library of education research and information which contains more than 1.3 million records and links to more than 323,000 full-text documents dating back to 1966.

ERIC: Education Resource Information Center (ProQuest)

This database is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education to provide extensive access to education-related literature. ERIC provides coverage of journal articles, conferences, meetings, government documents, theses, dissertations, reports, audiovisual media, bibliographies, directories, books and monographs.

Expanded Academic ASAP - Now known as Academic OneFile Select (Gale)

From arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and technology, this database meets research needs across all academic disciplines. Access scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers - many with full text and images.

Facts & Comparisons eAnswers (Wolters Kluwer Health)

Provides electronic drug data and clinical information for healthcare professionals.

Fargo Forum E-Paper

NDSU Libraries will provide trial access to The Forum E-Paper edition through Jan. 31, 2021.

Fargo Forum Newspaper Index, 1879-1995 (NDSU)

The Fargo Forum Newspaper Index database provides citations (currently about 8,000 entries) to selected articles published in a number of Fargo newspapers between 1879 and 1975, primarily the Fargo Forum, regarding events in North Dakota and to a limited extent in other states. The database is the work of the NDSU Institute for Regional Studies and indexing continues although on a very limited basis.

Fargo Forum Obituary Index (NDSU)

The indexing of Fargo Forum newspaper obituaries is an ongoing project of the NDSU Institute for Regional Studies. The time period completed includes from October 1892 to 1909 and from November 1982 to 1995. In addition partial indexing has been done for other years. The database currently contains over 70,000 names.

Fashion Snoops

Fashion Snoops is a comprehensive trend forecasting portal focused primarily on apparel and interior design work. The FS White Space includes a database of trend information, including color design, textiles, accessories, and more. In addition to information regarding design trends, the service also provides a creative space for designers to collect trend ideas from the database and external sources, allowing them to develop a collage to inspire their own ideas.

FedStats (Federal Government)

FedStats provides access to the full range of official statistical information produced by the Federal Government without having to know in advance which Federal agency produces which particular statistic. With convenient searching and linking capabilities to more than 100 agencies that provide data and trend information.

Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia (EBSCO)

This encyclopedia database indexes over 25,000 records, covering an array of topics. The database contains images and brief biographies as well as information in a variety of subject areas.

GENE-TOX (Genetic Toxicology)

GENE-TOX was created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and has genetic toxicology test results on over 3,200 chemicals. Selected literature was reviewed by scientific experts for each of the test systems under evaluation.

GENE-TOX provides historical information from the years 1991-1998.  It is no longer updated.

General Science Collection (Gale Cengage)

A collection of over 200 journals -- including such topics as particle physics, advanced mathematics, and nanotechnology.

GeoRef and GeoRef in Process (ProQuest)

Produced by the American Geological Institute, GeoRef is a comprehensive geosciences database. Over 3,500 journals are reviewed for indexing in the GeoRef database as well as books, maps, government reports, conference papers, and theses and dissertations. GeoRef In Process does NOT contain the most current records and should not be confused with a database of Recent References.

GeoScienceWorld

GeoScienceWorld (GSW) is a nonprofit collaborative and comprehensive Internet resource for research and communications in the earth sciences, which is built on a core database of peer-reviewed journals and is integrated with the GeoRef abstract and index service. The organization gives global researchers a single point of access to 44 full-text scholarly journals plus specialized searching capabilities and links to millions of relevant resources hosted elsewhere on the Web.

Global Rangelands

Provides links to more than 12,000 journal articles, websites, images, databases, videos, maps, reports, and decision making/educational tools about rangelands and rangeland management. 

Google Scholar (Google)

GovInfo

GPO’s GovInfo provides free online access to official publications from all three branches of the Federal Government. 

GPO Monthly Catalog (GPO)

Index to all types of U.S. government documents, including Congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records, judiciary materials, and documents issued by federal departments 1976-present. Produced by the U.S. Government Printing Office.

GreenFILE (EBSCO)

Multidisciplinary database about the intersection between the environment and disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology. Topics covered include global climate change, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more.

Grove Music Online (Oxford)

Encyclopedia articles from The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and others, including The New Grove Dictionary of Opera and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz. Includes sound examples. This resource is limited to 3 simultaneous users.

Grow: Plant Health Exchange (Plant Management Network)

Collection of resources on Plant Health produced by researchers and hosted by the American Phytopathological Society. Includes the Focus On series of webcasts about various crops, collected resources about pollinators and fruit diseases, and the Grow Monthly newsletter. Also include access to the journals Plant Disease Management Reports and Plant Health Progress.

HathiTrust

HathiTrust is a digital preservation repository with long-term preservation and access services to digitized content from a variety of sources. Items in the public domain are in full-view for everyone and items held in copyright are searchable.

Health & Psychosocial Instruments (EBSCO)

A database that provides access to information on questionnaires, interview schedules, checklists, coding schemes, rating scales in the fields of health and psychosocial sciences.

Health & Safety Science Abstracts (ProQuest)

This database provides a comprehensive, timely survey of recent work relating to public health, safety and industrial hygiene.

Health Source - Consumer Edition (EBSCO)

This database is a collection of consumer health information, providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health.

Health Source - Nursing/Academic Edition (EBSCO)

This database focuses on a wide variety of medical disciplines and also features the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names.

HeinOnline

HeinOnline is a fully searchable, image-based government document and legal research database. It contains coverage from inception of both U.S. statutory materials, U.S. Congressional Documents and more than 2,600 scholarly journals, all of the world's constitutions, all U.S. treaties, collections of classic treatises and presidential documents, and access to the full text of state and federal case law powered by Fastcase. This Government, Politics & Law HeinOnline’s database package includes, among other things, special collections on Criminal Justice, History, Foreign Relations, Religion and the Law and Women and the Law.

Historical Abstracts (EBSCO)

Representing scholarship from more than 90 countries, the database includes book citations, dissertations and theses, and coverage extends to related disciplines such as archeology, anthropology and sociology.

Homeland Security Digital Library (HSDL)

The Homeland Security Digital Library is composed of homeland security related documents collected from a wide variety of sources.

HSDB® (Hazardous Substances Data Bank)

HSDB provides toxicity data for over 5,800 potentially hazardous chemicals. It also has information on emergency handling procedures, industrial hygiene, environmental fate, human exposure, detection methods, and regulatory requirements. The data are fully referenced and reviewed by a Scientific Review Panel.

The IEEE Xplore® digital library provides access to IEEE journals, transactions, magazines, conference proceedings, standards, and dictionary, as well as Bell Labs Technical Journal and VDE VERLAG Conferences.

IMF’s Statistical Databases

Includes international and government financial statistics as well as balance of payment and trade statistics. Time series data for more than 194 countries, including commodity prices, exchange rates, exports and imports, and population.

Immunology Abstracts (ProQuest)

Summaries of studies relating to all aspects of immune systems in humans and animals, including normal functions and disorders

Industrial and Applied Microbiology Abstracts (Microbiology A) (ProQuest)

This database contains significant findings and practical applications in agricultural, food and beverage, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.
