Home Tutorials Gray Literature Section 3: Types of Gray Literature Health Sciences

Health Sciences

The health sciences rely heavily on gray literature due to the publicity lag which occurs with peer-reviewed journals. In the area of public health, for instance, the most current information possible about the spread of an infectious disease will be found in the gray literature – most likely in the form of governmental (or non-governmental like the World Health Organization) reports, statistics and other data. Health sciences gray literature encompasses a wide variety of topics which can be explored in the Resources section of this guide. Topics include clinical trials, drug and equipment information, clinical practice guidelines, statistics, policies and more.
