Home Welcome from the Dean of Libraries

Welcome from the Dean of Libraries

On behalf of NDSU Libraries staff, welcome to Fall Semester 2020. We are here to support you in any way we can on your educational journey. Our purpose is to provide the best possible access to information; proactively contribute to the success of students and faculty through teaching and research services in physical and virtual settings; and to enhance learning and creativity in support of the university’s strategic priority.

Library facilities switched to card-access only midway through Spring Semester 2020, while continuing to provide services online, virtually or by appointment. As the new academic year begins and we implement HyFlex education, we have plans in place to help mitigate possible risks while maintaining access to library facilities and services the campus community depends on.

Our recent upgrades to the Interlibrary Loan System will further enhance the HyFlex model. This valuable library service provides access to materials from local, regional and national libraries. Start searching at library.ndsu.edu/ill by using your NDSU username and password to log in.

We are committed to the “Protect the Herd” campaign to help maintain a healthy campus. Our goal is to reduce the risk of spreading the virus by implementing the following measures: requiring face coverings, recommending hand washing or sanitizing, maintaining physical distance of at least six feet, and encouraging others to stay home if they are feeling sick. The health and safety of library patrons, staff, and the NDSU community is our top priority. Find information about the university efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic here.

We encourage you to come visit us at one of the NDSU Libraries locations or contact a librarian to explore how we can be a vital part of your experience at North Dakota State University.

I welcome your comments and suggestions on how we are doing and how we can do better. Please feel free to send your questions and comments to me directly at ndsu.dean.libraries@ndsu.edu.

Go Bison!
