First Avenue in 1909

First Avenue in 1909.

This enlargement of photographic postcard is looking west on 1st Avenue North from southwest of 1st Avenue and 3rd Street North. The photographer was likely standing on the Case building located on N.P. Avenue. The large structure in the foreground was the Reeves & Co. agricultural machinery warehouse. A number of farm machines are visible along the side of the warehouse. The scene appears to be taken after a light snow.

Visible in the scene is the Central Hotel, Flamer House, the German Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Masonic Temple along the north side of 1st Avenue.

The postcard to the right (abour 1909) looks east on 1st Avenue from between Roberts Street and 7th Street North. On our right is the Gardner Hotel and (across Roberts Street) the YMCA, a vacant lot, and the Grand Theater.
