Spence-Magill Hospital

Spence-Magill Hospital.

The Spence-Magill Hospital (pictured above) was one of the earliest hospital in Fargo. The hospital was located at the northwest corner of Fifth Street and Ninth Avenue North (902 5th Street North). The hospital was founded in about 1897 and managed by two nurses: Gertrude Spence and Ida Magill. Ms. Spence was a graduate of the Nurses Training School in Asbury Hospital, Minneapolis, and Ms. Magill, who came from Ontario to found a health facility. I believe that the hospital was only open for a few years.
