Access to Overdrive
February 26, 2020

The Shott Collection has recently expanded to include eBooks and eAudiobooks! With your NDSU Libraries account, you can access OverDrive for mobile reading and listening. OverDrive is a free service offered by your library that lets you borrow digital content like popular eBooks, audiobooks, comics, and magazines – anytime, anywhere. Already an OverDrive user? Just connect the NDSU Libraries Collection to your account and see all the great materials available to you!

Getting started with your smart device
OverDrive requires downloading the Libby, by OverDrive app from Google Play or the Apple Store. Once downloaded, search for North Dakota State University to sync your library account with the app. When prompted, log in using your NDSU credentials. After login, you should be brought to the NDSU Libraries Collection where you can start borrowing! You can also access it on your computer.

Borrowing in OverDrive is simple
Once you locate a title that interests you, you can click to borrow if it's available, or place a hold. After choosing to borrow, it will give you a return date. You are allowed two checkouts and two holds at a time, with loan periods of 21 days for eBooks and audiobooks.

Have recommendations?
Excellent! Recommendations can be submitted via the OverDrive web version. If a title you are interested in is not owned, simply hit recommend and enter your email (giving you the first chance to check out that item if purchased). Recommendations will be reviewed often, so don't be discouraged if we don't have something right away.
