Abstract Maria Toomey, originally of Ambrose, and later, Enderlin, North Dakota, was a North Dakota State University student who in 2002 researched the establishment and environmental history of the Sheyenne National Grasslands, ultimately writing two papers on the subject, one of which was featured in the 2000-2002 McNair Scholars Research Journal.
