Scope and Content

From the Collection: The records of the Travois Club detail the club’s activities from 1936 to 1974. Primarily consisting of meeting minutes and a scrapbook, there are a handful of other related documents as well. There are five series in the collection: Meeting Minutes, Membership Booklets, Correspondence, Club Affiliations, and Scrapbook.

The Meeting Minutes Series includes typed and handwritten notes of meetings from 1950-1970. The minutes are generally complete, and provide an excellent look at the club’s activities.

The Membership Booklets Series consists of a single booklet from 1963-1964. Mentioned in it are members and officers.

The Correspondence Series is very small, comprised of four notes and letters to club members, primarily in the 1950s.

The Club Affiliations Series consists of three documents relating to the club’s membership in the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and North Dakota Federation of Women’s Clubs.

The Scrapbook Series consists of one scrapbook, compiled about 1955 by Ada G. Walster, one of Fargo’s most prominent residents. The most interesting part of the collection, the scrapbook includes member biographies, historical information, ephemera, newspaper clippings, and other items related to the club.
