Scope and Content
From the Collection:
The Fred Irish Albums Collection contain two photograph albums. The first album is dated from 1906 to 1922. They are filled with mostly unidentified people, and various trips. Some appear to be vacation photos to the west coast and includes, Pasco and Tacoma Bridge, in Washington state. the Golden Arrow Mine at Tonopath and Walker Lake in Nevada, Glacier National Park, Mt. Shasta, Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, and Sunny Dale in California. More locally there are photographs of Detroit Lakes, Lake Marion, and Fargo, including floods, snow, and homes on south 8th Street. There is also a set of photographs from Taylors Falls, Minnesota and the St. Croix River. At the beginning of the album are two cabinet card photographs, one identified as Mila Brown, Fred Irish's mother as a child.
The second album dates from 1917 to 1926. Mostly trips and social scenes. Some of the places identified are Taylors Falls, including Fred Irish’s birthplace. Various locations in the Minnesota lakes country, including Detroit Lake, Lake Melissa, Lake Marion, Lake Maud, Shell Lake, Lake Bemidji, Gull Lake, Big Stone Lake, Mille Lacs Lake, Pelican Lake, Itasca and the Ottertail River. There appears to be a trip to the East Coast, including Atlantic City, New Jersey, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Carolina Hotel at Pinehurst, North Carolina, Lookout Mt. at Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Florida, and another trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas, and another trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota. There is a series of photos of Fred Irish golfing with friends at the Fargo Country Club, and time a various lake cabins.
