Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Blaine and Muriel Schultz Family History Photograph Collection includes over 717 photographic prints for many family lines. They were originally within the family binders in the archival collection with multiple images placed on each paper sheet. They are organized by the same family series of the family history collection. Color photocopies are made of all the original sheets and are located in the original place within the family history collection. The photograph prints thus were transferred to this photograph collection and all are organized based on the original family binder titles and in the same order as found in the original files. Most if not all have identification written on the back of the print. To best view and research the photographs in each series also consult the family history collection. The Erickson Family Series includes 193 photographs almost all are of adults, children and families of various families. It is related to Muriel (Tessman) Schultz’s family lines. In the family history file she states the data is ‘for each Erickson grandparent; namely, Gulbrandson, Ramseth, Olson and Ottererson/Talle.’ Some do include Tessman family name. Some also have Elkwood, N.D. in Cavalier County written on the back of prints. The Erickson Olson Family Series includes 86 photographs of many group and individual photos and many different family names. One text mentions Erick Gulbrandson (b. 1815) & Anne Mathea Knutsdatter Ramset (b. 1821) and another states Thompson her great-grandparents and origin of Norway. The Meyer Family Series includes 24 photographs of individuals and families. Many of them do not have identifying information written on the back side. The family history file is history of William Meyer (1844-1914) and spouses Adelheid Hadler (1846-1877) and Fredericka Freiburg (1860-1942 and their descendants. Hillsboro, N.D. is on back of some images and thus related to the family. The Olson ‘The Family Tree’ Series includes 8 photographs. They are from the family history file with title “The Family History, Edward Olson and Marie (Johnson) Olson, 14 Mar. 1860-8 May 1931, 5 Oct. 1866-13 Jan. 1939, Married 10 June 1886”. They lived in Traill County, N.D. The family history does include many photocopies in the family history collection. The photographs include grave of Edward & Marie Olson, Helen Schultz, and families with Ruliffson last name. The Ramsett Family Series includes 6 photographs with Paul and Barbro Ramsett on most of them and most are identified from Wisconsin. The Ramsett family history file is very extensive and does include photocopies of photographs. The Schultz Family Series includes 150 photographs. There are numerous photographs of individuals, families and sites in Wisconsin, North Dakota and Norway. The three Schultz Family photograph series reflect the original three family history files. The Schultz family history was produced as a loose-leaf book by Blaine H. Schultz, but not dated. It begins with C. August Schultz (1829-1904) & Caroline Konell (1827-1895). C. August Schultz was born in Pommern, Germany (now part of Poland). In 1864 the family immigrated to United States and settled at Maribel, Wisconsin. The Tessman Family Series includes 31 photographs. They are mostly of individuals and families and include Tessman and other family names. They also include images of church and gravestones in Becker County, Minn. and farmstead at Northwood, N.D. The family history file begins with brothers Michael Tessman (1865-1933) and Frederick Tessman (1870-1924) who emigrated from East Prussia. The Jacob Tessman Family Series includes 25 photographs. They are individual and family images of the Jacob Tessman family descendants. The family history file documents Jacob Tessman (1841-1919) & Louise Seichau (1837-1926) who emigrated from East Prussia and settled in Becker County, Minnesota. It includes biographical sketches, descendant charts and photocopy family photographs. The Photographs Series includes 122 photographs. They are from a family history file consisting almost completely of photographs and organized with a number of families including Meyer, August Schultz, Erick Johnson, a no-name section, and Iver Ronsaas’ Ramseth. Several section names are different than some images within. The Meyer images (8) include various families and Hillsboro, N.D. given as location. The August Schultz images (50) have many family images and Hillsboro, N.D. is given as. The Erick Johnson images (31) have of family groups and individuals. The No Name Section images (9) are of family groups and individuals and some do not have name identification. The Iver Ronsaas’ Ramseth images (32) has ‘Iver Ronsaas’ section label but some are identified with last name of Ramseth. It is of groups and individuals.
