Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This collection contains records pertaining to the Spirit of the Sandbaggers public art project, which is installed at the corner of 2nd Street and 1st Avenue in Fargo, North Dakota. This collection includes records from the request for proposals in 2020 up to the press releases upon the installment of the art in May, 2022. This collection was created by Mike Benson who is a member of the Fargo Lions Club. The final artistic team was Benson, Karen Bakke, and Brock Davis. Specific items included in this collection are items that include the original call for art, various artists proposals for the project, artist profiles, references, lighting, insurance documents, press releases, meeting minutes, donations/fundraising records, sculpture mock-ups, models, dedication information, and ribbon-cutting ceremony materials.
