From the Collection: Letter and report (1869) of Capt. William J. Twining relating to his reconnaissance of the territory from the Red River to the Mouse (also known as Souris) River; historical sketches; and pamphlets and newspaper clippings, concerning Fort Totten, which was established as a military base near Devils Lake in 1867 and abandoned 1890. Includes information pertaining to Fort Totten Indian Reservation.
