Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Happy Hour Homemakers Club Records have been organized into three series: program booklets, secretary’s record books, major projects record books, treasurer’s ledger, and various subject files. The Program Booklet Series covers only the period 1931 to 1942. They include listings of officers, members, and the yearly program schedule. The Secretary’s Record Books Series consists of meeting minutes and attendance records for the club. They are complete from 1930 to 1992, except for 1958/59 - 1959/1960. The Major Project Record Books Series are issued by the Cooperative Extension Service and record the major areas of work by the club for each year. The series covers from 1937 to 1963 but there are various gaps. The treasurer’s ledger contains the routine debits and credits of the club from 1935 to 1963. Also, at the beginning of the volume is a handwritten version of the Club’s constitution. The Subject Files Series include anniversary booklets for the club, a small notebook on its bicentennial project, a file of basically thank you letters to the club, and a historical sketch of the club done by Mrs. J.F. Porter in 1946 with additions through 1958. There is also a small file of clippings concerning the club and several files on the Traill County Council of Homemaker’s Clubs and its Achievement Days.
