1939/1940 – 1948/1949

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 2

Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Helping Hands Homemakers Club Records document the activities of this Pierce County club primarily through its annual secretary’s record books that cover from 1939/1940 to 1996/1997 with several gaps. The Subject Files Series consists of a booklet of recipes compiled likely by club members on the occasion of its 75th anniversary in 1997. The North Dakota Association for Family & Community Education includes a brochure and a copy of its 1997 Forms Pad. The National Association for Family & Community Education contains only a copy of its 1997 Handbook. The Scrapbook includes a photograph of likely its early members and several newspaper clippings and several snapshots. The loose sheets originally in the scrapbook appear to have been prepared for a historical display of club members and activities from the 1920s to 1980s. Of particular interest are snapshots of members in their gardens, part of a ”Garden Project” of the 1930s; members meeting in the 1920s; lefse making (1982); a float in a parade (1986); and a series of snapshots likely from their 75 anniversary party.
