Scope and Contents

From the Collection: Collection of three sketches written by his sons and second wife, Ida, concerning the Stoa family in Norway, immigrating to America, and life in America. Sketches are entitled: "Elling J. Stoa (1855-1921), an introduction to a brief write-up of a Traill County (North Dakota) pioneer, Elling J. Stoa and his family," (3 leaves) compiled by Theodore E. Stoa; "Incidents from pioneer days, Stoa Clan," (20 leaves) by J.E. Stoa; "Contributions to the family history," (12 leaves) by Mother [Ida Karine Stoa]. Sketches mention the Stoa family in Norway, immigrating to America, homesteading, horses, prairie fires, country schools, blizzards, paying off debts, cleaning seed grain, the death of Stoa's first wife, his remarriage, and Ida's family.
