Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Jack Beeching Manuscipts consist exclusively of various drafts of his work The Dakota Project which was published in 1968. The draft manuscripts have been organized in the order they are believed to have been written. The terms “First”, “Second”, and “Final” are used on the file labels only to distinguish between the three major typed drafts. The first draft, written in longhand, is actually on the back of many of the “First” Draft pages; although not in consecutive order. The “Second” Draft is not complete, ending at page 167. The Miscellaneous draft pages file contains only several pages of various drafts which do not fit into the three main drafts. And, the final folder contains several note cards listing recommended changes in the text. Very likely they are not by Mr. Beeching himself.
