Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Katherine Gumb collection consists of her manuscripts on Steele County history, plus records of the Old Settlers Association of Griggs and Steele Counties, North Dakota. The Steele County Series history manuscripts are organized into the general material on Steele County, individual townships, cities, and several biographical sketches. For each folder, there is a typed copy of most of the manuscript material. Many files also contain biographical sketches of early settlers. The Old Settler Association of Griggs and Steele Counties Series consists mainly of the Minute Book, from the origin on February 13, 1906, to 1918, plus a folder of miscellaneous correspondence and financial records. (The Louis B. Hanna file includes correspondence with Mrs. Gumb, newspaper clippings, and Mrs. Gumb's biography manuscript.)
