Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The North Dakota Local History Collection is an eclectic assortment of documents that have been organized around the appropriate North Dakota community or county. Not all communities or counties are represented in the collection. The collection has been organized alphabetically by the name of the town or county. The files contain a wide variety of historically related material that are not substantial enough to warrant a separate collection. Materials include pamphlets, local programs, short histories, school material, term papers and newspaper clippings. No item-level listing is maintained. The materials could be considered ephemeral in nature, yet of potential value in the research of a particular community or county. The material has been collected by the archives staff, donated, or found in other collections while being processed. Substantial materials normally would not be added to this collection but would be either cataloged into the Institute publications collection or established as a separate collection.
