Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Albert Hallenberg scrapbook was compiled by his wife Pearl after his death in 1940. It includes a wide variety of materials related to Mr. Hallenberg’s life and profession career to include correspondence, diplomas, certificates, newspaper clippings, and photographs. The scrapbook pages were originally enclosed in a leather binding, kept intact with three large O-rings. The pages have been removed and each placed in a plastic sheet to protect them better. Page numbers also have been added. The original leather binder has been retained and kept in a separate box. The scrapbook follows roughly in chronological order the life of Dr. Hallenberg beginning with diplomas and other certificates upon graduating from dentistry school. The pages continue with newspaper clippings related to his life and his many involvements in local and national organizations. The scrapbook pages also include three patents issued to Dr. Hallenberg, for an X-Ray Film Holder from the U.S.A. in 1923, a Hand Mixing Receptacles issued by the U.S.A. in 1929 and one from Canada in 1910 for the same Hand-Mixing Receptacles. There are several clippings and other documents related to Dr. and Mrs. Hallenberg’s visit to Scandinavia in 1936. The scrapbook includes forty-six photographic prints interspersed throughout the scrapbook. There is a nice series of images of Mr. and Mrs. Hallenberg as young people and of interior views of his dental office in Fargo. Of particular interest is a series of portraits given to Mr. Hallenberg by friends and associates including of Nils Tronnes, Axel Oftedal, Norman Black, John Sunday, Dr. J.A. Heidbrink, Dean Hugh L. Burleson, Bishop Frederick B. Barlett, Tom Cook, Lt. Col. John D. Easton, Earl Reineke, and Casey Finnegan.
