Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The American Association of University Women, Fargo Branch records primarily include documents from the 1950s-1990s, and relate to the activities of the club. Of particular value are the Newsletters and Operations and Activities series, which detail the extent to which the organization was active in the community. There are eight series in the collection: Bylaws, Operations and Activities, Finance, Newsletters, Correspondence, Minutes and Reports, Subject, and Scrapbooks. An earlier accession has been processed as Mss 157.

The Bylaws series includes the bylaws of the club and revisions, as well as the legislative handbook of the organization.

The Operations and Activities series is one of the largest in the collection, and includes membership rolls and documents relating to organization events. In particular, there are several brochures the organization printed to inform non-members about the organization. The Finance series includes budgets and other financial information relating to the organization, including grant proposals. Of unique interest is a copy of a will in which the deceased left a bequest to the organization. The Newsletter series includes the monthly newsletters of the organization from 1987-2005. Each newsletter provides information about the organization’s activities, including summaries of past meetings. The Correspondence series consists of two small folders containing various pieces of correspondence from 1954-1998. Included are both formal letters and informal notes and memos.
