Arnold's Trail, Augusta, Bingham, Fryeburg, Kittery Point, Pemaquid (21)

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 16

Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Allen L. Truax’s American Revolutionary War postcards and photographs were originally part of his manuscript entitled "Guide to the American Revolution" (processed as Institute Manuscript Collection 361) and based on his travels in the eastern United States. His unpublished manuscript is modeled upon Benson J. Lossing's Pictorial Field Book of the Revolution (1857), which is divided by state with a narrative of events in that state and travelogue of historic sites. The photographs, mainly snapshots, and postcards are organized by state and then arranged alphabetically therein by town or historic site. There are also a small number of images from Canada which is filed first in the collection.
