Richard S. Tyler, 1903, 1927

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 3

Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Annie Dwight Tyler Papers consist of probate records for Mr. and Mrs. Tyler, business records of the R.S. Tyler Company, and of Mrs. Tyler. The biographical folder includes obituaries and other historical items on the Dwight and Tyler families. A small ledger containing loans made between 1879 and 1881 is presumed to be of Mr. Tyler. The probate files include various court documents, trial balances and deeds for both Mr. and Mrs. Tyler’s estates. The R.S. Tyler Company Series is the largest series, which was incorporated in 1914. The files include the original articles of incorporation and the “corporate record” book containing meeting minutes of the stockholders and directors who are the same three individuals (Mrs. Tyler, Augusta B. Peterson, and E.T. Hunkins) from 1914 to 1928. Other files include two stock shares and a listing of land holdings, presumed to be of the company. The financial volumes of journal, ledgers, and mortgage books give a good, detailed account of the business from about 1920-1934. The mortgage books do contain entries for Mrs. Tyler as well. The Annie Dwight Tyler Series consists of Mrs. Tyler’s personal investment and financial records which give a very detailed look at her own business affairs from about 1910 to the closing of her estate in 1944.
